Satay Anywhere

Skewering took quite a bit of time. Phew...

Gas BBQ grill doesn't give that great smoky taste of authentic satays but can't complain.

Serve with peanut sauce, fresh cucumber & nasi goreng (fried rice)

Have I swoon about Prima Food products yet?
Prima Food lets you make popular Singapore food anywhere in the world.
All of them taste authentic and great!
This is Prima Food Satay Kit which consist of the meat marinade and peanut sauce.
And so, in the countryhouse in France, we are able to enjoy the taste of Singapore.

Road Trip to the South: Before and after visiting The King

FRIED CHICKEN - World Famous...
Ooo la la

Pilgrimage to Graceland
Elvis Presley's living room

Adam Richman from Man vs Food is an idol of my sister.
Anywhere he went eat, my sister wants to go to.

First stop in Memphis- Gus's Fried Chicken World Famous.

At Gus's, we had fried green tomatoes for the first time ever.
They were consumed in seconds (though slight old frying oil taste), hence no photos.
The fried chicken were good but not this good:
"Fried chicken connoisseurs across the globe twitch in their sleep at night, dreaming about the gossamer- light fried chicken at this downtown concrete bunker." - Lonely Planet
We weren't blown away but hey! it's fried chicken so I'm not complaining.
There are Malay Mamas that make just as good fried chicken in Singapore. (btw, that's home)
Gus's isn't boasting about their side dishes so I won't waste time talking about them either.

After Graceland, it was Charles Vergo's Rendevous for BBQ RIBS!
Savored, relished, devoured by my sister and mon ami.
Not a pork fan, I took a nibble anyway to understand the phenomenon.
OKAY. Yes, very tasty ribs indeed.
Maybe I will reconsider pork.

Road Trip to the South: Smoky Mountains

4 lovely days we spent in the Smokies.
We camped and hiked and tried to spot as much animals as possible.
The Smokies has beautiful creeks so beautiful, it's surreal
as if we are in the Shire (Lord of the Rings).
Yes, I can passed as a Hobbit with my short legs.

Our camp fare improved.
With a small pot & pan and a newly acquired grill,
we fed ourselves happily in the evening after hiking.

Road Trip to the South: Gettysburg

An small old fashion diner in Gettysburg
with friendly waitresses but serves sloppy food

Boring Fish Sandwich from the diner

Pancakes and Sunnyside Up Egg (with runny egg white. Yucks.)
Camping

Ill-equipped & supplied camping cooking- Pasta and Sausages

Road trip to the south of USA!
We started from NY and our first stop is Gettysburg.
It's not quite the South yet but it's along the way
and a place to learn more of American history.

We didn't have a travel gas stove and had to rely of the wood fire
to cook at the camp site.
And since we didn't have a grill thingy to put over the fire,
we had to hold the pot and pan the entire cooking time.
It wasn't the most scrumptious dinner but it was fun!
